*****

Spring has blossomed, the summer is imminent, and the Mouse That Roared have been practicing.

What it all amounts to is a new sound, a clearer vision, and a keyboardist. We have been holing up in my new basement practicing the new Mouse songs and tidying up some old ones for our upcoming shows (all details to the left). Steve and I got together last week just to go over the guitar parts, and that went really well. Now I only need to not get caught up in the jam and follow the course of the song. I tend to get lost in a groove, which I blame wholly on my days in the Sleepyhouse. I sort of wish we were just jamming sometimes, as the flow is there and we are all in it. But we have a show to do.

Chris Piuma from The Minor Thirds has joined us as our keyboard player. He has brought in some dynamics which have truly taken the Mouse sound to a new plateau. Whatever it is he is doing is the right thing to be doing. He says he's not doing much, but from what I hear coming from his set up he is doing a lot. I think sunday's practice went well and we are closer to be ready. Once we have a set and know we can play it in less than 3 hours we'll be good to go.

Steve has been communicating more effectively than ever and is really making strides to hear what we are all doing ad to be sure we are following his vision. It is being a lot of fun.

Hope to see you all soon,

Jack

PS, I almost forgot, riding bikes in Portland rocks!
