First, I'll tell you about the White Eagle show. It was, as usual, a lot of fun. However, my amp kept making this muddy gurgling noise, like it has the flu or something, which really interfered with the overall sound. Otherwise we played pretty good, had a wonderful crowd and was asked back. We would like to thank all of our friends for their unending support & love; we'd also like to thank our new friends, whose support, kind words & appearance at our show makes us feel truly apart fo something wonderful.

This show was part of the Portland Rock Collective (PRC) shows set up every thursday night at the White Eagle. We have been going every week in suppoort of the PRC and especially the bands. We saw some amazing performances last month and look forward to the February shows. In doing the promotional compilation CD's for PRC, I am privvy to the bands being showcased and I must say that I am truly in awe of the consistant talent coming through. Not all of the music is in my persoanl taste, but it is easy to recognise the talent displayed. Portland is amazing me more & more. The music community is opening wide its ears and hearts and are creating, slowly but surely, a sense of cohesiveness, even subtely. There is such an abundance of musicians here, so many bands and artists, that it really is near impossible to have one strong "scene", but the PRC, as well as OEbase.com and a host of local labels and clubs are doing their best to promote the immense talent this great city offers. Even in the dead of winter, the "rose" city blooms. (Enough cheese out of me.)

We got a last minute gig with Ross & the Hellpets at Grand Central Bowl the following Wednesday. It was Cosmic Bowling, which meant glow in the dark fun for all. I used my old amp and I think we sounded a lot better. We were focused on rock, and I couldn't help but dance & slide in my slippery and stylish bowling shoes. I had more fun than I thought I might and enjoyed good company in the lanes. Thanks to David of Sauvie Island Moon Rocket Factory for offering us the spot.

Coming up we have an acoustic set in February which will feature myself, Casey & Ross Beach. Steve will be doing a Mouse That Roared set that night as well as my brother's project Stone Figures, Rich's Sleepyhouse & the unstoppable, unflappable, S. Brooks. It's free, but tipping the bands is always welcome.
